Vittoriosa Parish Church

History of Vittoriosa (Birgu) Parish Church

It is said that Vittoriosa, Birgu, is the second oldest parish in Malta. Between 1530 and 1571 it was the Annunciation church that served as the parish church, while today, the parish  church is a convent church for the Knights of St. John. However in 1681 the church was rebuilt by Lorenzo Gafà and became the current parish church.
