Le Corsaire (Live via satellite from Bolshoi Theatre)
Le Corsaire - ballet at it's bestLe Corsaire is an incredible ballet performance, that was originally inspired by one of Lord Byron's poems. A young Greek girl, Medora is sold to Pasha by a slave dealer, however a pirate, Conrad seizes her and declares his love for her. Le Corsaire gets more interesting when the jealous colleague of Conrad, sends Medora back to the slave dealer who sells her to Pasha onve again. Conrad tries to capture Medora once again, but his disguise gives him away. He's then captured and sentenced to death. Medora is in love with Conrad so she plots a plan to save his life... Will she manage? Le Corsaire was first created in 1856 starring Marius Petipa, whose choreography lasted until 2007, when Alexia Ratmansky and Yuri Burklava created a new version with three acts followed by an epilogue. Bolshoi Theatre decribes this performance as "the most sumptuous of all."
