200th anniversary of the National Library of Malta
A week of literary activitiesThe 200th anniversary of the National Library of Malta will be celebrated between the 4th and 10th of June 2012. There will be various activities that include exhibitions, discussions, lectures and more. The full programme of the event is as follows: Monday, 4th June 2012 - 18:30 - Official Opening of The Anniversary - Hon. Dolores Cristina, Minister of Education and Employment will inaugurate an exhibition "The Bibliotheca Melitensis - A Passage Through Time" Tuesday, 5th June 2012 - 19:00 - A discussion organized by the National Library and the National Book Council entitled "Kotba Li Ispirawni", will get authours Marisa Attard, Victor Fenech and Trevor Zahra to talk about the literary works that inspired them throughout their careers. Wednesday, 6th June 2012 -19:00 - An activity by PoezijaPlus that will feature excerpts from books by prominent Maltese authors, music and a discussion. Friday, 8th June 2012 - 19:00 - A public lecture by Dr. William Zammit with the title "The First decades of Malta’s Biblioteca Pubblica: 1760-1798" will be held at the Malta National Library Saturday, 9th June 2012 - 19:00 - A Multi-lingual evening of Language and Literature organised by the DGT Field Offices in Denmark and Malta respectively will be held at the National Library. The event, entitled "Dan Turell: A Danish Cult Writer with a Passion for Malta" will be presented by Chili Turell an actress and poet. Sunday, 10th June 2012 - 09:30 - The National Library premises will be open to the public until 13:00 with guided tours given every 30 minutes. |
