Visit Zurrieq for the feast of St. Catherine and explore the Maltese cultureThe Feast of St. Catherine is celebrated annually in the town of Zurrieq in the south of Malta. For a whole week, Zurrieq enjoys a festive mood, as it is completely decorated in colourful lights, statues and other street decorations. There are brass band marches happening every evening on the days prior to the festa, accompanied by the traditional fireworks, toghether with the nougat and ice-cream stalls distributed around the village. On the day of the feast, there would be a procession around the town with the titular statue of St. Catherine followed by brass bands and a crowd of devotees. Festas are very awaited events in Malta, so if you're visiting Malta during summer, make sure to visit Zurrieq for the festa to explore how the Maltese show their devotion! |
