Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady

Visit Attard during the festa and enjoy the festivities

The Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is celebrated annually in Attard on the 15th of August. From weeks before the festa, Attard is completely decorated with colourful lights, statues and festoons, creating an incredibly vibrant atmosphere of festivities. During the week prior to the festa, brass bands play cheerful marches accompanied by spectacular aerial and ground fireworks.

The culmination of celebrations is reached on the day of the Feast of Attard. Apart from a number of religious funtions inside the parish church, there is also a procession around Attard with the titular statue followed by brass bands and devoted people. The feast is concluded by a great fireworks display as the statue returns back to its place in the church. Festas are an important part of the Maltese culture, so make sure to head down to Attard to celebrate with the locals.
