Malta wins friendly against Liechtenstein
Malta defeats Liechtenstein in a friendly football game
Malta played a friendly football game against Liechtenstein on the 29th of February, 2012, which it won with the score of 2-1. Although the Maltese National Team was the better one in the first part of the game, the first half ended without any goals. But a few minutes into the second half, Liechtenstein shocked Malta by scoring the first goal of the match. However, the Maltese team came from behind to score two goals during the 55th and 64th minute of the game, by Michael Mifsud, Malta’s most prolific scorer.
A preperation game for 2012 FIFA World Cup Brazil
Malta vs. Liechtenstein was played at 7.30pm at the National Football Stadium in Ta Qali, the stadium which hosts several important matches for local and national teams. This game was one of a series of match that will prepare the Maltese National Team towards the upcoming games for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Group B European Zone, with matches against Armenia and Italy next September.
For this game, the Maltese team was the responsibility of technical director Robert Gatt, who is the temporary coach until the next coach is appointed. This friendly game provided an opportunity for both Mr. Gatt and to the Maltese Team to build their morale and practice for the more serious upcoming matches.
