The Malta Military Tattoo 2011
Great atmosphere, amazing music and marches
The Malta Military Tattoo was held in Malta for the 8th consecutive year spread over two nights on the 9th and 10th October 2011. The Malta Fairs and Conventions centre at Ta’ Qali came to life with the Armed Forces of Malta and The Malta Police Force as well as foreign bands marching and playing to large crowds.
These two nights of entertainment also included precision marching but above all, good music. The Malta Military Tattoo is an old event and in fact dates all the way back to the 17th century during war when the drummers were sent out into towns every evening to let the soldiers know it was time to return to the barracks.
During the Malta Military Tattoo 2011, the Pipes and Drums of San Ġwann, Marsa and Żurrieq, the ISC Gymnastics Team, the Malta Police Precision Drill Team, the Malta Police Band and the Armed Forces of Malta Band performed extremely well with their mass pipes and drum bands and it was a true joy attending their performance.
Foreign military bands at the Malta Military Tattoo 2011 included bands from all over Europe such as Representative Band of the Armed Forces of Poland, the First Cinque Ports Rifles Volunteer Corps of Drums from the UK and Sierre Pipe Band from Switzerland had an over the top performance.
We are already looking forward to next years’ spectacular show!
