Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady

The Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is celebrated in Gudja every year on the 15th of August. From several days before, Gudja is completely decorated with colourful lights, statues, festoons and more items that create an incredibly vibrant festive atmosphere. Spectacular fireworks accompany brass bands that play cheerful marches around the town of Gudja.

The culmination of celebrations is reached on the day of the Feast of Gudja. Apart from religious funtions inside the church, there is also a procession around Mosta with the titular statue followed by brass bands and crowds of devotees. The feast comes to an end with a great fireworks display as the statue returns back to its place in the church.
